Uh...why are we talking about this when the Ascalon Arena and Yak's Arena are gone?
Go ahead, have your low level player ran to Lions Arch so you can go to the battle isles. You're just going to die in every battle. Whereas before there were low level arenas for you to pound on newbies, you don't have this anymore and theres really no reason to go to the arenas at under level 20 now, unless you are doing it as some stupid joke.

Ok first and formost the Arenas are not a joke they are as previously stated there to get newbies into pvp. How is this the reason there are bad players in the game? Most people who play with elite skills and armor have beatin the game(I was one of them). I think letting lvl 20's into the lower lvl arena's would be the death of pvp to a certain degree. There would be no way to try out pvp unless you want to go to the battle isle's and be slaughtered as a noob.

Um one little problem with your post and thats...the Ascalon and Yak's arena's are still there unless A.net took them out today(which I highly doubt).

It's really weird that Anet hasn't done anything about this issue. I mean, the Ascalon Arenas are a joke right now, but it can often be someone's first entry into GW PvP. What a horrible thought.

In all honesty, it isn't all that important. If pve-tards want to believe then can play pvp by playing in grotto armor with max dmg weapons in the kiddies arena, then let them. You may as well say that groups are unbalanced in Ascalon Arena always as one team inevitably ends up with higher levels than the other etc.

Still the best thing to do is lock the south door of Beacons Perch, require level 16+ to ascend and all is fixed. No more elites from mineral springs or hell area, no more droks armor, no more nothing but regular game content up to ascending. The last preview even the dev stated "at level 20 at which point you can ascend" wonder why they don't enforce this? But, I'm all for slack and make it level 16 that keeps all the players out of Ascalon and Yaks bend arena that would have to ascend if they used my plan to get to droks armor.

Would suck from PvE viewpoint, I like getting the best armor for my new toons, unless I really want the useless "challenge" of running the starter missions with whatever there's available.
Easy fix would be to lock Ascalon/Yak's Bend arena after the char has been to Camp Rankor or past it, so you can still get the better armor, but can't participate in PvP at the lowbie arenas.

No I like the idea of locking everyone out and they play the game as it was created to be played. Each character up the ladder and no jumping 15 rungs to the end game content. (smile)

It was created to be ran through that. Thats why that whole path exists...and ANet has stated that many times. Anyways...I could still get ran from Ascalon to Sanctum Cay, have someone run the mission for me, get to Amnoon, have someone run to all the missions and run them for me, join a group for Dragon's Lair, and boom now I'm in Droks, it just took me a little longer and cost me a bit more, but still possible. And I probably will still be able to go back to Ascalon and kill low level players with my elite skill and drok armor.

Let's not turn this thread into debating running on a whole, that's not its intention - this is about the low level arenas.
Everyone has their opinion about running, myself included, but ArenaNet made it possible on purpose, and they're not going to change it and lose customers.
Please stick to the topic at hand.

I completely agree with Siren on this point. I noticed that AA and YB were beginning to be a problem a couple months after the game was released, and it only increased exponentially once Faction was introduced. Most of the players in those arenas are Faction farming for their account. I sent off an e-mail to Anet and posted here a while back regarding this problem, and pretty much got the same brush off that has been quoted in other posts here.
I have just brought all my remaining characters over to Post, and had planned on putting each one through some PvP action, but as it stands, its just a waste of time unless I do what everyone else is doing and run them for max armor/weapons/skills. Which is not how I want to play this game. If I was just starting out, and entered Ascalon Arena now, I would never play PvP again, thinking I'm just not good enough and it's just a waste of my time and my teammates' time.
That's the real shame, because GW has been my first experience with PvP play and I am glad I managed to put some time in those arenas before they became useless. I do enjoy PvPing on occassion, but only if it's balanced play. Right now, Ascalon and Yak's are completely unbalanced - surprising since Anet always states how proud they are to have created a game based on balance and skills as opposed to time put in and grindfests.
They really need to do something very soon, especially since Factions is going to be more PvP oriented than Prophecies. If they want newer players to buy the sequel/expansion, then they need to make sure everyone has a good PvP experience in the lower arenas.

But actually I do think Droks armour in ascy arena is just boring ( although it gets u lots of faction > ) but I think some ppl could even quit because of this. Most ascy arena players are quite new and get fed up with the pvp because they picked the game for pvp purposes...hmm

Exactly. It should be fun and rewarding, with something that may not help higher level folks, but handy for newer players. If the HoH drops Sigils and perfect gold weapons, which are PvE really, why not have low level vE rewards in the low level arenas - it would help entice PvE players to play. Once you get the bullies out at least.

That is a great idea... as soon as the bullies are out (obviously wouldn't work before that).
